Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems (IFS) considers that we consist of several parts and personalities within ourselves and that we are not one single mind. It is an approach to psychotherapy that identifies and addresses these separate parts within each person’s inner system.

These consist of wounded parts and painful emotions such as anger, shame, loneliness etc. and parts that try to control and protect the person from their pain.

Our parts are often in conflict with each other and with our core Self, a term that describes the confident, compassionate, whole person that is at the centre of every individual.

IFS therapy focuses on healing the wounded parts and restoring mental balance and harmony by changing the dynamics that create discord among the sub-personalities and the Self.

It is used to treat individuals, couples, and families. IFS has been shown to be effective for treating a variety of conditions and their symptoms, such as depression, anxiety, phobias, panic, addictions and physical health condition, as well as improving general functioning and well-being.

Christiane has been a homeopath and therapist for nearly twenty years, deeply involved in a variety of healing modalities.  She offers an integrative treatment model, which includes classical homeopathy as well as natural self-care methods.  She also teaches and facilitates fasting in workshops and courses.

Christiane is also an Internal Family Systems therapist. IFS is a new model of psychotherapy which is based on the idea that we are not one personality but consist of many sub-personalities or parts.

In IFS therapy we come to know our parts, open up communication and make connections with them. The parts (eg an angry part, despondent part, sad part etc.) are often caught in extreme modes of expression, and are trying to protect younger parts that hold a lot of fear and often shame, among other traumas or wounds.

As a therapist, Christiane has found IFS to be a highly effective way of healing the wounded parts of ourselves and of restoring harmony and a deep feeling of safety.

Christiane offers both homeopathic treatment and IFS therapy on their own or together. She works with adults as well as with children and teenagers.
